Cyrus of Chantris

Benedict's 'birthday' post caused me to check my registration date.

Mine was ten days ago. Woah! This year has gone fast.

Thanks to everyone who has made these last twelve months a lot of fun.

Setting: The coast of Ennisport

The Golden Apple joins a flotilla of Royal Navy ships led by The Orchid Queen to have a look at Ennisport because it is one of the few port towns to survive the initial invasion.

Other ships involved: The Eregnor, The Kolvir, The Deiga, and The Moon Pass.

This was a two-pronged attack. I ran the ship stuff (which you can find under the cut) and Beatrice ran the ground troops in a separate scene.

Setting: In front of the Mead Hall minutes after Dinah's arrest

Eva says "War often inspires worst in men who use trouble as cover for their vileness. But war also inspires best in men on other times."

Cyrus shrugs, "It's been my experience that war does nothing but kill men."

Eva smiles "It inspires hope. Desire to live. To help those in need."

Cyrus says, "So does rum."

Eva laughs, sincerely.

Eva nods "Well. Rum, too, kills people sometimes."

Cyrus smiles but it does not reach his eyes. "Good point. I'll stick with the rum, then. At least it tastes better than war."

Eva nods and bows "Fare well. I hope captain gets freed soon."

Cyrus nods, "She'd better. You be careful out there."

Eva grins "Always!" and with a woosh of the wind, nimble jadean is gone in the crowd like bird in a bamboo grove.

All references to whispering between Beatrice and Cyrus are making use of a bit of Chantris sorcery which allows them to send words on the wind to each other.
